yes John and Fender have a strat that will basically be modeled after the SRV but with a slightly fatter neck (to satisfy those huge hands). From what I have heard from a family member of which i talk to, the strat will have a racing stripe just as the custom strat he plays live.

I work for Guitar Center and am a huge fan of Mayer's... There is a Mayer Signature Strat, but it will not be a guitar that they are putting on the market for sale. It is basically a SRV with a tortoise shell PG RH tremolo and a fatter neck, but that is it really. I talked to our Fender Rep about this one.

john mayer posted on the gear forum at mystupidmotuth.com an said there will be a john mayer signature an it will be released, why would fender make a signater strat an not sell it is really stupid. when you think about it

heres the deal on the guitar. It really isn't anything like the SRV sig model, that would be stupid anyway.

Its going to be a sunburst body with tortoiseshell pg. john has specified a THINNER neck and his signature si on the back of the headstock. The most interesting point about the guitar is that the pickups are a special model created for this strat. john's previous number one guitar was a SRV strat. his had pickups which came unusually wired from the factory giving a really unique sound. fender have tried to replicate these fro his sig model. lastly it will also come in shoreline gold with red racing stripes.

i have only seen a picture of the sunburst on but it looks good. It is going to have a nitro finish on it as well, an some special tuned pick ups that have the mids scooped out of them. I work in a music store and have just ordered two of them.

I work at a store and we are fender dealers, we just put in an order for the John Mayer signature strat, the colors they are offering are the color sunburst, shoreline gold (which is really silver) with a black racing stripe, and a metallic frost black. The sale price on them is going to be 1399. They should start arriving in stores in June. If you are interested and want a deal on one email johara@normanmusic.com..

There is one sig strat out there wtih a fatter neck than the SRV though, i wont share which it is, but its the sickest neck around

i think its funny how many people think they "know" things and think they are on the up and up.

I work here, i do this i do that, i know someone who knows john mayers dog...etc

GET A CLUE PEOPLE

All you armchair guitar players find a new hobbie, you buy 1200+sig strats and cannot even tune the thing, let alone pluck an original riff.

JM strat is great, have one, as well as 4 other strats. Can tune them and play them mr. doyle, don't be angry, music is subjective

Doyle B ripped everyone a new one on that last post he made. so basically if you want to do something cool... don't buy a signature strat.

because if you do... people who are better than you will not only make fun of you, they'll look down on you too... and that's what playing guitar is about everywhere i go nowadays...

i just built a tele custom from my own mind. try getting into that whole idea. that will keep older guys from raggin you as bad. then they're like hey, that thing looks like crap, but you tried! good job!
