Sennheiser Digital 9000 systems at the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest in Malmö
Sennheiser was the official technical equipment provider for the 58th Eurovision Song Contest, microphones and in-ear-monitoring solutions ensured that the audience at the Malmö Arena and about 125 million TV spectators experienced the songs in optimum audio quality. Sennheiser was working closely with Markus Müller (MM Communications), who preconfigured and supplied the wireless systems. For the first time, Digital 9000 systems were used for the two semi-finals on 14 and 16 May as well as for the Grand Final on 18 May.

Musikmesse and Prolight + Sound announced that 113,000 visitors from 142 countries (2012: 109,481 visitors, 120 countries) attended this year's event. “This visitor response has far surpassed our own expectations and that of the exhibitors”, said Detlef Braun, Managing Director of Messe Frankfurt GmbH on the final day. “With 113,000, the visitor numbers not only exceeded last years results by three percent, but it also surpasses the all-time record high from 2009 (112,478 visitors)." Albion introduces highly versatile Gulf Stream series of all tube amps
At Winter NAMM show 2013 Albion introduced the Gulf Stream series of all valve guitar amplifiers which also were showcased at Musikmesse Frankfurt 2013, demonstrated by Steve Grindrod himself! Featuring a very retro style outfit, the Albion founder and acknowledged tube amp designer developed a versatile but still very simple control format.
Covering a power range from 15 to 40 Watts, the Gulf Stream series comprises two combo amplifiers, two heads and two cabinets. All amplifiers use AX7 tubes for the input stage, 6V6 valves for the power amp, and feature bass, middle and treble tone control. Rounding retro style, GS amps' master stages offer vintage Tremolo with speed and depth controls plus digital Accutronics reverb, presence control and frequency compensated output level. Yamaha revamps 'workhorse' saxophones to YAS-62III and YTS-62III
At the 2013 Winter NAMM Show, Yamaha’s Band & Orchestral Division debuted the YAS-62III and YTS-62III “New 62” professional saxophones. These updates to the legendary YAS-62II and YTS-62II professional alto & tenor saxophones feature a newly designed “62” neck for ease of playability and greater control. “The neck of the new 62 is specifically designed to appeal to a broader range of saxophonists,” says Brian Petterson, Wind Instrument Assistant Marketing Manager. The new 62s additionally feature a backpack-style case offering contemporary looks and greater ease of transport, as well as a redesigned low B-C# connection, for easy adjustment. Available in lacquered and silver-plated finish options, these models replace the YAS-62II and YTS-62II.
