Celestion CXi521 white Celestion continues to develop its respected CXi range of sound reinforcement loudspeakers with a further two new products, previewed for the first time at PLASA 2001. The CXi822 partners Celestion's component technology with a compound waveguide to produce a high sensitivity dedicated mid-hi pack. "CXi822 is the perfect partner for our CXi1811 horn loaded bin," stated Richard Vivian from Celestion. "We now have a high performance two-box system for fixed install and touring applications."
CXi822 uses two 8" paper Celestion cone drivers and two Celestion CDX-1 compression drivers. Nominal dispersion is 90º x 20º. "The way the waveguides have been designed gives us a compact box which can be stacked in vertical arrays to build a large system," stated Vivian. "We didn't set out primarily to design a line array, but for some applications the fact that this box is line-arrayable makes it very useful."
At the other end of the scale the compact Celestion CXi521 has just been launched in a hard-wearing white finish with a white grille. Suited for installation in churches and modern architectural spaces, the high power 5" bass/mid driver partnered with a 1" compression driver has been produced because of "significant market demand" for a white loudspeaker offering this level of performance.
