Sennheiser at prolight+sound 2005 Frankfurt

At prolight+sound 2005, Sennheiser focussed on its wired and wireless stage microphones. The models on show included HSP 2 and HSP 4 headset microphones, evolution 900 Series and the the second generation of the highly successful evolution wireless series.
Sennheiser HSP4 headset microphoneDesigned for music and broadcast applications, the headset microphones HSP 2 (omni-directional) and HSP 4 (cardioid) are virtually invisible yet extremely robust. "Musicians, sound engineers and broadcasting stations have been highly impressed by these headsets," said Stephan Scherthan, Product Manager for wired microphones. The HSP series offers modular design, full-bodied sound, and wearing comfort. The ear clips are made of hard-wearing titanium and the neck strap can be easily adjusted to any head size. The microphone boom can be fitted on either side and is adjustable in length and angle. The HSP 4 also has a gooseneck to precisely adjust the microphone capsule. Both models are available in beige or black, each with connections for the transmitters of the 3000 and 5000 Series (Lemo), for evolution wireless transmitters (mini jack plug), or with open cable ends. Combined with the evolution MZA 900 P in-line preamp, the HSP 2 and HSP 4 can also be used as wired systems.
The wired professional evolution 900 series boasts very low levels of handling noise, excellent pulse behaviour as well as maximum feedback suppression. Stephan Scherthan, Product Manager for wired microphones: "We have had extremely positive feedback from artists and sound engineers using the new series. Professionals as well as semi-professional users who value maximum quality on stage will be delighted by the microphones of the 900 Series."
The vocals microphones e935 (cardioid) and e945 (supercardioid) are designed to cut through the onstage mix allowing high sound levels. Providing a natural, warm and smooth sound, both microphones have been optimised for stage use and feature slightly enhanced presence for improved intelligibility. With its wide frequency response and fast attack, the e901 condenser half-cardioid boundary microphone is suitable for miking bass drums. A damping rubber pad ensures that this stepresistant microphone stays in place.
The frequency response of the e902 has been optimised for very low bass frequencies, making this sturdy, dynamic model a solution for miking bass drums, bass guitar amps, tubas and other bass instruments. Due to its Incorporated stand mount no extra clamp is required.
The cardiod e904 is designed for use tom toms and snare drums. Its extremely compact dimensions allow mounting close to the drum head. The microphone comes with a mounting clamp.
Providing high maximum sound pressure level, a light treble accentuation and an excellent pulse behaviour, the dynamic e905 with incorporated stand mount is a true all-rounder suitable for a whole range of applications. Designed for use with guitar amplifiers, the supercardiod e906 also works for miking percussion and brass instruments. Its frequency response can be switched to flat, slight drop at 4 kHz, or strong drop at 4 kHz.
The condenser microphone e908 offers a choice of two models, the e 908B is appropriate for wind instruments featuring a lively, rich sound and low handling noise. The gooseneck and the special mounting clamp allow the microphone to be fitted directly to the instrument bell. The microphone comes with an intelligent in-line preamp with a multifunctional LED display for cable, phantom power and audio level. The e908D has all the features of the B version and comes with a mounting clamp that has been specially developed for drums and percussion.
Sennheiser evolution e914 condenser microphone The condenser model e914 is recommened for cymbals, overhead miking, orchestras and choirs. It has an exceptionally powerful and clear sound and can handle the highest sound pressures. The e914 features a sensitivity control and a bass roll-off/cut-off switch. It sports a modular design with an exchangeable microphone capsule.
Sennheiser evolution wireless G2Five evolution wireless G2 series offer a sophisticated system for any application. A switching bandwidth of 36 MHz makes 1,440 channels available. The most striking changes have been made to the bodypack transmitters and mobile receivers, which have been reduced in size by about 30%. Additional features include a scan function that automatically searches for free channels, an intuitive user menu, a pilot tone squelch feature, a reset function, and large backlit displays. The new microphones are compatible with systems of the first generation.
