The Axon AX-100Blue Chip Music has created the AX-100, which represents another step forward in controlling MIDI units with a guitar or bass. The successor of the NGC-77 sports an internal GM/XG compatible sound generator, parallel MIDI out, and of course several additional features.
The opertaing system is upgradable now and can be entirely replaced by more recent versions. The AX-100 is offered in a single rack space configuration. It features a two times 16 character LCD showing preset name and number as well as an automatic high resolution tuner, which can be replaced by a VU-Meter.
The manufacturer claims the AX-100 to be the fastest MIDI converter available with excellent MIDI data accuracy due to the digital analysis of the signal making it an excellent tool for MIDI recording. The Axon allows for individual string adjustability for fine tuning the sensitivity. It supports guitar and 4-, 5- and 6-string bass guitars. A mic input allows for converting a voice, trumpet, sax or any other instrument.
String split offers to split the strings into two different sounds, just like fret split does the same related to a fret. And of course there is a pick split with three positions allowing the combine splits function to give access to 13 different sounds on the guitar at one time. Further features include a pick controller, neural mode for Piezo pick-ups, MSB / LSB parameters, a trigger mode for re-triggering when bending or using hammer-on techniques, auto quantize, user programmable hold pedal, storage of multiple sensitivities, editable Sounds on the SB model, a drum-sequencer, and more.
