At Musikmesse Frankfurt 2002 W. L Gore and Associates, manufacturer of Elixir Strings, announced that all Ibanez mid and high-end bass models are now factory fitted with Elixir Strings with Nanoweb coating. Ibanez joins an increasing list of discerning guitar and bass manufacturers that recognise strings as a critical component and an influential factor in the instrument purchasing process.
First impressions are critical to instrument sales, so it is important that Instruments have strings that keep their bright tone over a long period of time. Because Nanoweb coating retains strings' tone and feel far longer than conventional strings, retailers benefit from reduced instrument maintenance costs and customers experience the instrument as new.
"Our previous strings just sound 'dead' after a few months of storage in our warehouse inventory", said Mick Suyama, bass product manager for Ibanez' parent company Hoshino Gakki. "I really like the improved feel and look of Nanoweb coating. I am sure that our customers will appreciate Ibanez basses more, especially a model that has been hanging on a store wall for a few months."
"Our team is very excited and honored by Ibanez' decision to use Elixir bass strings," said Elixir product manager Bill Connors. "Leaders like Ibanez understand the realities of the retail environment."
