Clavia launched the Nord Electro 2 stage keyboard ind 2002 and is updating the software in March 2004. Clavia releases the V2.1 Software Update for the Nord Electro 2 and Nord Electro stage keyboards. The V2.1 update features 'Selectable Keyboard Velocity Sensitivity' for the piano sounds. In V2.1 you can now select between 10 different velocity sensitivity curves for the piano sounds in your Electro. The V2.1 Software Update also features some minor fixes.
Among the features of the Electro 2 you find the Mega Clavinet sound which offers all the filter and pick-up variations of the original Clavinet D6. This means that you'll be able to access no less than 60 + 4 different Clavinet D6 sounds.
The improved piano sample playback engine enhances the polyphony for the piano sounds and also supports digital models of the sounds after key release. Clavinet's and the Wurlitzer's distinctive key release sounds are faithfully modeled. The new sample playback engine also allows for playback of stereo pianos. The new factory sound library includes a stereo acoustic grand. The Electro 2 also features vintage-style effects in the effects section. Distortion is enhanced tosound more like an overdriven tube amplifier.
Nord Electro 2 fully supports USB download of Nord Electro piano samples. Currently nine piano sounds are available like Steinway and Malmsjö acoustic grand pianos, Clavinet, Yamaha CP-80, Clavia Electric Grand Model G, Rhodes 1 and 2, and Wurlitzer. Owners of the original Nord Electro can upgrade to V2.0 software which includes all the software features and new piano sounds of the Nord Electro 2.
The organ in the Electro 2 is based on a digital simulation of the mechanical tone wheels of the B-3 organ. It offers a complex digital model of the original chorus and vibrato scanner, modeling of the individual random contact bounces for each partial, modeling of the unique frequency characteristics of the built-in pre-amplifier, simulation of the energy stealth on the tone wheels, and authentic tuning of the tone wheels according to the original -B3 design.
The Nord Electro 2 and the Nord Electro V2.0 Software Upgrade come with a manual including an additional chapter describing the history behind the original instruments simulated by the Nord Electro 2/V2.0.
Nord Electro 2 is available with 61 or 73 keys and as a rack mounted sound module.
