UK
based company RedSound is widening its product range with the launch of
the Darkstar 8-voice polyphonic synthesizer.
Available from December, Darkstar uses DSP analog modelling to faithfully
recreate the classic sounds and features of analog synthesizers. The comprehensive
specification includes 8-voice polyphony with 2 oscillators per voice,
5-part multitimbral set-up, joystick mixing for oscillators/ ring modulation
and pink/white/blue noise generators. With a full MIDI specification and
2 external inputs, Darkstar is a cost effective solution for synthesizer
requirement in the studio, recording or live environment.
Featuring all the essential 'hands-on' synthesizer parameter controls,
Darkstar is housed in the familiar Federation BPM FX desktop style case
with an optional 19'' rack kit available for studio applications.
Designing-in an upgrade/conversion path was fundamental to the Darkstar
project and to this end, user-fit EPROM conversion kits will be available
from early 2000. The first two conversion kits will transform Darkstar
into a mono synth including selectable ‘acid’ style filters and a fully
featured Vocoder.
Size 340(W) x 230(H) x 50(D)mm (13.4x9x2 inches), weight 2.35 kg.
