Millennium Congas and Bongos by LP
LP is celebrating the new millennium with an enhanced, limited edition
series of congas and bongos. Destined for discriminating players and collectors
alike, the LP Millennium Edition Congas and Bongos feature refinements
from top to bottom.
LP Founder and Chairman Martin Cohen was the first to mass-produce
congas. The LP Classic Model Conga became an instant benchmark in terms
of height, girth, and most important, sonic capabilities, responding equally
to slap or heel of the palm. The New LP Millennium Edition Conga continues
this tradition and can instantly be recognized by its rich cranberry
fade wood finish, stunning under stage lights. LP applies the special stain
over a kiln-dried, environmentally friendly Siam Oak shell, and then inserts
an internal layer of fiberglass, which serves both as reinforcement and
enhancement of upper frequencies. The 30" tall conga features a mix of
standard and custom hardware, including Comfort Curve II rims, 5/16" diameter
tuning rods, LP Heart side plates, each secured with a backing plate, and
integrated ProCareTM Shell Protectors to cushion shells from bumping and
marring that lustrous, deep red finish. Topping the drums are hand picked,
natural rawhide heads.
The LP Generation II Millennium Edition Bongos offer instant articulation
and project bright timbres with an added depth and fullness that
have endeared LP bongos since the birth of the company in 1964. Available
with standard 7 1/4" and 8 5/8" heads, the shells have a pronounced contour
to deliver the complex mix of highs and lower mids. Comfort Curve II rims,
5/16" tuning rods, and hand selected natural rawhide heads are standard.
Steel backing plates and cast aluminum bottoms guarantee stability under
the most rigorous of performance conditions.
