Evans synthetic conga headsEvans drumheads, the company that first originated the all-weather drumhead in 1957, has now produced a remarkable synthetic conga head that combines the unmistakable sound and feel of animal skin with the benefits of all-weather materials.
Years of research and development, along with testing and feedback from some of the world's greatest congeros, has resulted in the new Evans Tri-Center conga head. The Tri-Center conga head's special triple-slit 'Overtone control center' is responsible for the head's animal-skin sound; it's acoustically designed to eliminate unwanted overtones and add low end. A new textured finish and protective coating improves the response, sensitivity and longevity of the conga heads. The heads will remain unaffected by weather or temperature changes and will sound as good in concert as they did at the sound check. There's no need for the percussionist to show up early to tune and retune Evans conga heads.
Additionlly, a revolutionary hoop design conforms to the taper of the conga shell for a perfect fit with the bearing edge and conga rims. The hoop also locks the film in place, preventing the head from pulling out under high tension tuning. Evans Tri-Center conga heads are available for quinto (11''), conga (11 3/4''), and tumba (12 1/2'').
