Castles in the air - new church music for organ
The festival Luchtkastelen (Castles in the air) features three different
programs with new church music. All concerts will be performed in Amsterdam,
Rotterdam and Utrecht. Additionally, on Saturday 7th October a masterclass
for organ players by Willem Tanke will be held at the church 'De
Boom' in Amsterdam from 2 to 7 pm before the concert starts at 8:15 pm.
All programs start at 8:15 pm and feature the organ with music of contemporary
composers, beeing used for improvisations and as part of an ensemble.
Program one is performed in Amsterdam first and features Jan Hage (organ)
and Åsa Olsson (Mezzosoprano) with the world premiere of "Ten Oorlog!
Itar V - The final version " by composer Hans Koolmees and others. John
Terwal will perform on solo-organ and be joined by electronic musician
Arno Peeters later. Fred van Hove (organ) and saxophone-player Wolfgang
Fuchs will close the program with free improvisations.
The second program will be on stage at the Laurenskerk in Rotterdam
first. Jan Raas on organ and drummers Frederike de Winter and Ron Colbers
will play free improvisations. Bob Ostertag (sampler) and Guus Jansen (organ)
do improvisations on agreed themes. Organ soloist Willem Tanke will finish
the concert playing recent compositions.
Program three begins with Alan Laurillard (sampler), Klaas Hoek (organ)
and vocalist Peggy Larson and Jodi Gilbert playing compositions by Laurillard.
Klaas Hoek improvises on solo-organ. Peter van Dinther (trumpet) and Piet
van der Steen (organ) play works by contemporay composers. The concert
will finish with a performance of Jasper van t Hoff (organ), Wolter Wierbos(trombone),
Michael Vatcher (drums) and Paul Stocker (saxophone).Program three starts
on October 5, 8:15 pm at the Nicolaikerk, Utrecht.
