Abbey Road Studios' Peter Mew shared in the celebrations when Sir Paul McCartney's MPL Ltd. won the Gold medal for the 'Best Music Programme' on 17th June at this year's International Radio Awards for 'Band On The Run'.
Part of the New York Festival, the Awards attract over 1500 entries and the categories are whittled down to five nominees each.  The top three programmes are then awarded bronze, silver or gold.
The two hour programme about the making of the album, produced by Eddie Pumer, featured interviews with all of the famous faces from the album cover as well as tracks from the album and anecdotes on the recording of the music.
In the course of the programme Eddie Pumer interviewed Dustin Hoffman, James Coburn, Christopher Lee, John Conte, Michael Parkinson, Denny Lane, Kenny Lynch and Clement Freud. The engineering, from taped interviews and original master tapes, was carried out by Peter Mew on the Sonic Solutions system at Abbey Road Studios.
'Band On The Run' was syndicated by MJI Broadcasting to radio stations all over the world and a concise version is featured on CD2 of the digitally remastered issue of the album.
