The Institute, London, invests in space, facilities and equipment

The Institute Contemporary Music Performance, London
During the summer of 2013 the Institute of Contemporary Music Performance, London, has initiated a significant refurbishment project in preparation for the new academic year which began in September. The investment provides students with more teaching space, improved facilities and new music and technical equipment.
The first floor of Building 1B has been reconfigured making rooms 101b and 102b bigger and improved the sound systems in these rooms. An additional lecture room has been created with a new speaker system and a Tech Suite, which is fully equipped with brand new iMacs. The current keyboard room has been re-oriented and built with a new layout and bespoke desking. In addition to the improvements to the classroom and circulation space the existing lift was replaced.
More works improve the 1st and 2nd floors of 1A including extensive redecoration, improvements to the lighting, new floor finishes to the communal area, refurbishment to the ceiling on the 2nd floor and a program of replacing the furniture in the circulation space.
IT infrastructure improvements include new servers and broadband provisions to make the use of computer and internet systems faster and increase student’s ability to work and study on campus. All students, tutors and staff will have access to fast Wi-Fi in all areas of the Institute. The development of a new VLE (Virtual Learning Environment) will soon be rolled out.
Following the initial refurbishment schedule, the Facilities team at the Institute begins to replace the drum kits in live rooms and to upgrade the equipment in these rooms to ensure that all are of the same specification in terms of amps, PA systems and lighting.
Established over a quarter of a century ago, the Institute has been developing and delivering cutting-edge courses to students of contemporary music for longer than any other UK-based school. The Institute’s reputation has been built on providing education and training using the very best teachers and state-of-the-art facilities.
