New Planet Waves' products in custom installation and pre-wire applications

Planet Waves, the custom cable solution company, announced a new product assortment at CEDIA Expo 2008. Planet Waves’ expanded assortment has been designed to offer more cable and connector solutions and give dealers more choices when using Planet Waves in custom installation and pre-wire applications. All new products will be showcased at Integrated Systems Europe (ISE) 2009, Amsterdam, stand 1K30, The new product lineup includes a two-piece modular connector and a quality, economical cable solution for pre-wiring. Also new to the Planet Waves product offering is a system of modular Decora style wall plates to provide an elegant finishing touch to in-wall and in-ceiling runs of Planet Waves cable. Headlining the Planet Waves offering is the ZM Series Modular Connector which enables the installer to ensure that the cable is properly positioned to make a reliable tip and ground connection. The ZM connector socket is affixed to the Planet Waves cable and secured with the grounding screw. The ZM connector tip is then easily screwed onto the socket, securely completing the connection. ZM connector tips are interchangeable between RCA, BNC and F connector tips with the ZM Series socket. “The Planet Waves ZM Series provides installers with the most elegant and reliable re-usable connector solution available”, says Robert D’Addario, CI Business Manager. “Our new connector is ideal for high performance A/V installations, and fully supports high definition video.” The ZM Series connectors are made of a precision-machined high quality brass shell with gold connection and grounding tips. A soft-touch, easy-grip finish handles well in warm or cold environments. Replaceable color bands are included to customize each cable connection with the white, yellow, red, green, blue and orange colors most commonly used in audio/video installations. Available in RCA, F, BNC and RCA Female connections. The new ST Series connectors are a one piece connector shell and will replace the current HD range of connectors. Constructed of high quality gold plated ground and connection tips, the ST Series features a black chrome finish and includes right angle connector options for added flexibility in A/V installations. Available in a variety of packaging and quantity choices, the ST reusable connectors are suitable for analogue audio and high definition video applications. Planet Waves also introduces the BC Series, a one-piece connector shell, with a chrome finish, nickel plated ground and connection tips. The Planet Waves Pre-Wire Cable solution is an economical cable solution for those dealers requiring a quality dual-shield spec cable for cost conscious applications. Utilizing high quality materials, the dual-shielding prevents unwanted interference from degrading signals commonly found in audio/video installations and features a smooth outer jacket for easy wire pulling. “We understand the current market is challenging with new home construction declines and reduced consumer spending,” says Robert D’Addario. “We see this as an opportunity to help our dealers grow their business by offering an economical, efficient solution for pre-wire installations.” Available in 500 ft. spool lengths for both black and white single cable as well as different configurations of 3, 5 and 6 wire RGB cable bundles available on 250 ft spools. Fast and reliable connections for installers can be made in the wall at the component rack, the back of the flat screen display, or other A/V components locations.
