Installed Sound Applications
|

The first Lake Contour installation in
a house of worship was recently completed at the First Presbyterian Church
of Colorado Springs in Colorado. Design-build firm Clair Brothers Systems
integrated the Lake Contour digital speaker controller into a new Clair
Brothers Audio main sound reinforcement system.
"This is the first church installation where we've used the Lake Contour and the CAT-2s," confirms Gene Pelland, Vice President and Director of Marketing at Clair Brothers Systems in Lititz, PA. "Overall, after hearing back after the Good Friday/Easter Sunday services from the business manager at the church, Ed Ward, and the facilities manager, Ken Hayward, they were very happy." Lake Contour is a two-input, six-output device that provides digital equalization, crossovers, dynamics and delays. Contour synthesizes filters, providing precise and flexible equalization for optimizing loudspeaker systems and supporting a virtually unlimited number of EQ curves. "We used the Lake Contour to drive the left and right Clair Curved Live Array system," explains Pelland. "We're using three CAT-2 loudspeaker elements per side, with a CS-18 subwoofer on top of the cluster." Under-balcony Clair Bros. UB-2003 speaker feeds are driven by a BSS Soundweb. Clair Bros. also supplied six stage monitor wedges. He continues, "The installation project supervisor from Clair Brothers, Dean Wiltsie, in reporting back to me, said that one of the reasons we believe the system was so easy to tune and to get results quickly was the combination of the Lake Contour and the CAT speakers." States Bruce Jackson, Senior Vice President of Research for Lake Technology, "The Lake-designed Clair iO DSP speaker controller, resulting from the collaboration between Clair Brothers and Lake Technology, has revolutionized the way that the performance of touring concert sound systems is optimized." Pelland recalls that he was initially contacted six or eight months ago by consultant Dave Thomas from Ultrasound Communication Systems, located in Colorado Springs, who requested a design-build bid for the church. "I handed the initial design off to Dan Hines, who works out of the Clair Brothers Systems Nashville office. Dan met with Dave Thomas and the church and created the initial design for the system, integrating the new Clair CAT-2 Curved Live Array." He continues, "During that period of time we were working with Lake in creating the Clair Brothers iO for the touring market and a version for the installation market. After a previous successful installation using the device at Belmont University in Nashville we decided to use it at First Presbyterian." The First Presbyterian Church of Colorado Springs is the first church installation of the new Lake Contour digital speaker controller, which has been integrated with a Clair Bros. Audio Curved Line Array System. |
