Most powerful model 4000 joins Crown's CDi series of amplifiers

Crown International announced at prolight + sound show 2007 in Frankfurt that its CDi Series of professional power amplifiers for installed sound applications has now been expanded with the addition of the highest-powered CDi 4000. “With the launch of the CDi 4000, systems integrators now have an even broader range of available power, which extends to 1200 watts per channel into four ohms and 1000 watts per channel for 70-volt distributed systems,” says Stephen Morris, Crown International director of marketing for installed sound, touring and cinema.
Like its siblings, the CDi 1000 and CDi 2000, the high-performance CDi 4000 is equipped with a host of sophisticated features, not the least of which is its versatile ability to run both low-impedance two-, four- and eight-ohm loads as well as 70- and 140-volt outputs.
An intuitive front panel LCD enables installers to quickly step through the process of tailoring system parameters for onboard loudspeaker processing (including crossovers, EQ, limiting, compression, and delay), while 20 user-defined DSP presets ensure that those settings can be easily recalled at the touch of a button. A rear-panel USB connector further permits the amplifier to be configured and controlled via a PC running Harman Pro’s HiQnet System Architect software.
Equipped with a light and efficient universal switch-mode power supply, each of the three CDi models weighs only 19 pounds – despite being housed in a rugged steel 2U chassis – and can be conveniently and reliably run off of a standard 15-amp outlet. Advanced protection circuitry guards against shorted outputs, open circuits, DC, mismatched loads, general overheating, high-frequency overloads and internal faults. Quiet proportional-speed fans help keep the amplifiers cool under rigorous operating conditions, and a number of front-panel LEDs (signal, -10, -20, ready, clip, temp/fault, and power) help provide the system operator with an immediate visual of current amplifier status and performance.
Rear-panel connectivity includes detachable Phoenix-style input connectors, barrier strip output connectors, and a NEMA 5-15P inlet for AC mains.
Crown also backs the line up with its ‘Three-Year, No-Fault, Fully Transferable Warranty’.
