Abletec introduces ALC range of OEM power amplifiers at Winter NAMM

Abletec takes the opportunity of the Winter NAMM show 2010 (no exhibit) to introduce its new ALC (Audio Line Combination) Series combines Class D power amplifiers with the company’s ZVS switching power supplies for >85% efficiency. RMS output power ranges from 180 to 1000 watts. The ALC Series expands the range of Abletec’s electronics for OEMs by integrating advanced Class D power amplifiers with Abletec’s ZVS (Zero Voltage Switching) power supplies. With Energy Star compliance, regulatory approvals and compact open-frame form factors, the ALC Series is ready to unleash creative design potential, accelerating development of next-generation consumer electronics, musical performance and professional audiovisual systems. “Our customers have been asking for complete power modules,” says Rich Spina, President of Abletec USA, who will be attending the NAMM show. “So our engineers developed this new technology, including patent pending Adaptive Pole Control (APC), to deliver Class AB audio performance with the efficiencies of Class D.” The ALC Series transforms wall outlet AC into high power audio with better than 85% efficiency. Overcurrent, overvoltage and overtemperature protection are built in, along with auxiliary power supplies and balanced analogue inputs. With damping factors of 4000 and higher, ALC Series amplifiers excel when powering highly reactive woofers and subwoofers.

“The ALC Series is an ideal choice for loudspeaker designers, thanks to its perfectly flat frequency and phase response, which are independent of the output load,” Spina comments. Six watts of auxiliary power is available for front end electronics. An Energy Star compliant standby mode that consumes less than 1 watt, plus RoHS, FCC and EU approvals, help manufacturers develop new products more quickly and at lower cost. The ALC Series models provide less than 1% THD into 4 Ohm loads, with a 6 dB crest factor. The range comprises ALC0180 (2x90W), ALC0240 (2x120W), ALC0600 (2x300W), ALC0300 (300W fullrange monoblock), ALC1000 (1000W fullrange monoblock), and the ALC0200 2.1 system offering 2x40W and 1x120W into 6 Ohms.
