Allen & Heath ML3000 console Allen & Heath launched its ML3000 15 buss live sound VCA console at PLASA 2001. The company describes its latest creation as a ‘VCA desk for the real world’ aiming the ML3000 at rental companies and smaller venues needing advanced functionality in a small-footprint, affordable mixer. Its flexibility as hire stock or as a house desk is enhanced by Allen & Heath’s dual functionality concept, allowing ML3000 to be used in front-of-house, monitoring or dual roles. For monitoring work, some or all auxes can be swapped onto the 100mm group faders, with inserts and full metering.
In addition to its 8 VCA groups, ML3000 provides 4 audio groups, 8 pre/post switchable auxes, 8 mute groups and an 8x4 matrix with external inputs and inserts. VCA assignment and mute scenes can be saved to 128 snapshot memories for show automation using a PC running free archiver software.
ML3000 is also equipped with the company’s LCRplus panning system, using paired blend and pan controls on all channels and groups to allow signal positioning anywhere across the C and LR busses.
Like its larger siblings in the ML series, ML3000 has been built using robust extruded aluminium beams and 16-gauge steel panels, with individual, vertically mounted circuit boards and rotary controls anchored to the front panel using steel nuts.
ML3000 will begin shipping in November 2001, with 24, 32 and 40 channel versions available, all with two extra dual stereo inputs.
