Kemper Profiling Amplifier for guitar listens and learns

Kemper GmbH unveiled the new Kemper Profiling Amplifier at the Winter NAMM show 2011. Its very different approach to guitar amplification in the digital domain. The Kemper Profiling Amplifier “learns” the sonic behavior of any guitar amplifier and provides exactly the tone and feel the player would expect from the “real” amp. Kemper promises that the times of struggling to “re-find” that magic mic position in front of the speaker are over: Now there will be a profile available of basically any sonic condition of any valve amp.
At NAMM, Kemper proved this by installing a profiling setup. A very versatile high class tube amplifier with various classic tube amp architectures was connected to an isolation cabinet with a celestion vintage 30 speaker miked up with a standard Shure SM 57.

The guitar is connected to the tube amp via the Kemper Profiling Amplifier and the microphone signal goes back into the microphone input of the Profiling Amplifier. Hiiting a single button, the profiling process starts and after 10 to 20 seconds the guitar player can compare the profiled sound with the sound of the original tube amplifier.
As not every guitar player can make use of such a setup and of course not everybody owns the a number of classic valve amps, the Kemper Profiling Amplifier comes with profiles of classic tube amps including the classic speaker cabinets which are a part of the profiling result.
The Kemper Profiling Amplifier comes in a lunchbox size providing with all the professional connectivity for use at home, in the studio and on stage. It is completed with a stomp box section, a master FX section and a set of parameters for shaping the amp profiles further from classic architecture to modern.
The Kemper Profiling Amplifier was also showcased at Musikmesse 2011, Frankfurt/Main, and was demonstrated at Summer NAMM 2011, Nashville TN.
The amp received a prestigious Musikmesse International Press Award (MIPA) in 2012. At Musikmesse Frankfurt 2013 was announced that the Kemper amp had won its second MIPA.
