Jimmy Bruno performs at the Sadowsky booth at winter Namm

Jimmy Bruno - SoloThe latest in a long list of premier musicians, the multifaceted guitarist and arranger Jimmy Bruno is now playing Sadowsky Archtop guitars. Bruno will be appearing at the Sadowsky booth #5729 at the winter Namm show 2005 on Friday and Saturday at 11 AM and 4 PM.
Bruno has been singled out by players such as George Benson based on his ability to play straight-ahead jazz at the most advanced technical level. His fluent musicality is especially evident on Live At Birdland One with Special Guest Bobby Watson.
Born in Philadelphia in 1953, Bruno was first turned on to the guitar by his father, who played on Frank Virtue and the Virtues' 1959 hit "Guitar Boogie Shuffle." At 19, Jimmy toured with Buddy Rich and worked in Las Vegas. Eventually he migrated West to L.A., where he pursued studio workand recorded with the great Tommy Tedesco.
A Concord Jazz artist since 1992, he has three critically acclaimed outings as a leader to his credit: Burnin', Slight Of Hand, and Like That with Joey DeFrancesco on organ. He also appears on The Concord Jazz Guitar Collective with fellow guitarists Howard Alden and Frank Vignola
Recalling his meeting with Roger Sadowsky at the World Guitar Congress, Bruno recounts, "I walked past his booth on the way to the stage and asked Roger if I could try his guitar on stage. And he just handed it to me! Never met the man before that ... lucky for me I walked past his booth. Best thing that ever happened to me. I am blown away by the new instrument Roger Sadowsky has made for me! No feedback. It's easy to get a round, warm tone ... probably the best guitar I have ever owned."
Jimmy's new album, Solo, on the Guitar Sessions label, is literally nothing but Jimmy Bruno. The gifted instrumentalist and arranger is featured on a compilation of originals and jazz standards such as "Bennie's Tune" and "Satin Doll", which showcase his intuitive mastery of the instrument.
