Les Paul signs his 100th anniverary guitar at 123rd AES

The legendary Les Paul stopped by the H.E.A.R. booth to autograph his 100th Anniversary Gibson Les Paul for H.E.A.R. (Hearing Education and Awareness for Rockers) director and founder, Kathy Peck (photo). H.E.A.R. is the grassroots hearing health advocacy nonprofit organization supporting artists, engineers, producers and industry professionals. "This was a dream come true for us," reported Peck. "He is an incredible man who's done such incredible things and created so much of what we use today in music." Peck is always a trade show favorite as well as someone very generous with her own time. Most recently she organized the San Francisco DirkFest Memorial concerts at both Slim's and The Great American Music Hall with two sold out back-to-back tribute shows for the late punk rock concert promoter, Dirk Dirksen. H.E.A.R.'s booth at AES this year offered free ear impressions for custom-fit ear plugs, personal monitors at the conference along with support from Future Sonics and Mack's Ear Plugs.
Founded in 1988, H.E.A.R. is a non-profit organization dedicated to the prevention of hearing loss and tinnitus among musicians and music fans through education and grassroots advocacy. With support from the music industry, musicians, audiologists, physicians, hearing health organizations, health manufacturers and individual donors, H.E.A.R. is helping to raise awareness of the real dangers of repeated exposure to excessive noise levels from music. The H.E.A.R. Partners program is a national network of certified hearing professionals who support H.E.A.R.'s mission. H.E.A.R. delivers information on hearing loss and tinnitus to people worldwide via HEARNET.COM, public service campaigns, educational programs and distributes hearing protection to thousands of people at events annually.
