Launched at Winter NAMM show 2009, Hartke revisits the traditional paper cone driver with the new AK series of bass cabinets. Hartke also introduced two new HyDrive bass combos which will be highlighted along with the AK series at Musikmesse Frankfurt 2009, Hall 4.0 C35.
The new AK115 houses one 15-inch 400 watt paper cone driver while the AK410 employs four 10-inch 125 watt paper cone drivers for 500 watts of total power handling. Both models also incorporate a 1-inch titanium compression driver for enhanced performance on the top end, rounding out the full range of tonal dimensions that can be produced by the bass guitar.
“Hartke bass gear is known for innovation and tone,” says Larry Hartke, founder of Hartke Systems. “So we’re adding the Hartke touch to the classic paper cone driver to keep our line of cabinets as diverse and widely appealing as possible. We designed the new AK series for awesome power and terrific tone for all those paper cone loyalists.”
The AK115 and the AK410 provide both parallel Speakon and 1/4-inch inputs for true connecting convenience. Each respective cab is also engineered to extend low frequencies and provide better bass projection, ensuring all the power and tone is dispersed with precision and articulation. Plus, with rugged construction and removable casters, the AK cabinets are built tough and ready for the road.
The new Hartke HX5210 and HX5410 combine the HyDrive speaker design with a professional, comprehensive bass amplifier in a portable, roadworthy enclosure.
Hartke’s revolutionary HyDrive speakers fuse paper and aluminum cones, delivering the warm tone of traditional paper and the clear attack of aluminum. In these two new combos, the HyDrive speakers are powered by an amplifier section that houses a classic 12AX7 tube preamp circuit. For additional control, the amplifier sections also provide bass and treble shelving along with mid peak EQ controls and a built-in limiter.
The HX5410 employs four 10-inch HyDrive hybrid cone drivers with 500 watts being delivered to its internal 4 ohm speaker system. The HX5210 houses two 10-inch HyDrive hybrid cone drivers with 350 watts being delivered to its internal 8 ohm speaker system. Both combos also incorporate a 1-inch titanium compression driver for enhanced high frequency management.
“The HyDrive line has been so incredibly successful, it only makes sense for us to expand it,” says Larry Hartke. “That’s why we decided to design two combos with increased power and bigger bass response. The HX5210 and HX5410 will ensure you’re heard in larger venues and louder bands.”
Thanks to rugged birch plywood construction, perforated metal speaker grills and durable black vinyl covering, the new HyDrive combos are as attractive as they are durable.
