Evans introduces 2-ply EMAD2 bass batter head

Evans chose winter Namm show 2006 to introduce the EMAD2 bass batter head – a two-ply version of the very successful EMAD (Externally Mounted Adjustable Damping) head. After the introduction of a resonant head in summer 2005 the EMAD2 takes the EMAD another step further.
The EMAD2 consists of a 6.5 mil outer ply and a 10 mil inner ply, and, as is the case with any two-ply head, the EMAD2 has boosted low-end frequencies and outstanding durability. The EMAD2 offers two damping rings, each of which affects the head’s sound and pedal response. This external system not only maximizes natural attack characteristics and expands the dynamic range and control over sustain, it also allows quick, easy adjustments without having to remove the head from the drum. The EMAD2 performs well even at low dynamic levels.
“The EMAD family of bass heads has been one of our most successful lines,” remarks Evans Brand Manager Michael Robinson. “The EMAD2 should be a perfect bass batter head for heavy rock and metal, but it’s got a versatile enough sound for other genres as well. We heard the demand for this head from dealers, artists, and consumers, and we listened. Once we started getting word that a two-ply EMAD was being requested, we started R&D development and answered those requests. Judging by the demand for this head before it was even developed, we’re anticipating the EMAD2 to be a very big seller.”
The Evans EMAD2 Bass Batter Head is offered in sizes 18" to 24" and is now available.
