Buzz Audio announces the arrival of their long anticipated SSA-1.1 microphone preamp. The Stereo Source Amplifier (SSA) is the latest low noise, transparent sounding mic preamp that builds on the renown quality and reputation of its big brother, the Buzz Audio MA-2.2. The SSA-1.1 utilizes the Buzz Audio Class A front end design which results in a musically sounding mic preamp. The SSA-1.1 also represents a break through in pricing which brings professional studio quality within reach of the home and project recording engineer.
Buzz Audio has incorporated the same front panel styling that users of the Stereo Optical Compressor (SOC-1.1) have enjoyed. The front panel includes a new dedicated instrument interface (DI), as well as independent detented gain controls for both the microphone and the DI input. Other controls include a switchable 50 hz high pass filter, soft on/off phantom power, phase reverse and output mute controls.
According to Buzz Audio President and chief designer, Tim Farrant, "As the success of the MA-2.2 grew, it was a natural progression to develop the same transparent sound for a home studio budget preamp. The amount of e-mail request we received verified our decision to proceed with developing the SSA-1.1."
The SSA-1.1 was designed with the home or project studio in mind, but it should be equally at "home" in a professional studio.
