First announced at AES 2005 in New York, the new EnergyPro brand was launched in Europe at ProLight+Sound 2006 and will be showcased at 120th AES in Paris. EnergyPro is the newly created professional division of Audio Products International Corp, manufacturer of the consumer brands Energy, Mirage and Athena Technologies. Based in Toronto, Canada, APIC is the third largest loudspeaker manufacturer in North America and one of the ten largest speaker manufacturers in the world.
The first products created under the new brand are a comprehensive line of studio monitors, focussed on the recording, post production, project studio and broadcast markets. Stereo, surround, passive, active, analogue and digitally controlled systems are all featured and API has used its considerable R&D resources to design in digital compatibility and upgrade paths for this advanced range.
The products on show at Frankfurt will include the very compact passive E5.5 and E5.5C L/C/R monitors, suitable for broadcast and surround monitoring where space is limited, and the larger E6.5 compact passive monitor. Both E5.5 and E6.5 products feature titanium HF and glass-fibre cone matrix LF, providing outstanding audio quality in their class.
Also on show will be the advanced analogue/digital active E7A and E9A monitors, developed with input from recording engineers to facilitate the way they want to work with monitors. This not only means wide bandwidth, flat response, reference quality monitoring but features like sub feed and bass management from the main monitors, allowing mix position control of subs. With 24-bit resolution from 32 to 192 KHz sampling rate the E7A and E9A maintain full bit-rate at all volume levels.
EnergyPro will also be showing examples of their highly developed Es active subwoofers, featuring advanced API driver technology and BASH amplification.
To manage the business unit, API has employed the services of industry veteran Bill Calma. With more than 25 years experience in the professional and commercial sound markets, Calma will handle all aspects of launching the brand worldwide. At prolight+sound he will be joined by colleague Derek West, who will be on hand to discuss distribution throughout the EMEA and Asia regions.
