The Collective series of books will present an outline of important contemporary and ethnic styles and will include an accompanying CD performed by members of the respected Drummers Collective and Bass Collective faculty. The complete series will include such diverse styles as Afro-Cuban, Brazilian, Afro-Pop, Caribbean, Rock, Jazz, Funk, New Orleans, and Drum & Bass. In total more than fifty different styles and grooves will be covered. Release date is scheduled for January of 2001.
The Collective was established in 1977, as Drummers Collective, and was the first school to create a professional oriented curriculum for aspiring musicians. The Collective attracts hundreds of students each year from all over the world, and boasts an alumni community from more than forty different countries.
