Architectural recessed color changer for North American requirements Martin Architectural offers the new Alien 05 Eyeball, an intelligent 50-watt color changer that creates multiple variations of luminous color for contemporary design. This variant of Martin's Alien 05 is designed to meet the requirements of North America and fits directly into a non-IC housing used in new construction installations (the non IC housing comes with an integral transformer).
Useful for background color washlighting in retail, restaurants, cafés, bars, and other low ambient light applications, it offers a selectable palette of eight replaceable tints, leaving designers free to create any palette of choice. Dichroic color filters are readily available and are simple to replace.
As a compact washlighting luminaire, the Alien 05 Eyeball comes with two lens options, a narrow beam Fresnel lens for longer throw applications and a wide-angle diffuser lens. The narrow 34° angle allows for a higher beam intensity. The standard issue diffuser lens by comparison has a field angle of 54 °.
It is controlled with an Alien 05 driver either via DMX, stand-alone, or the dedicated Oracle operator panel. The large LCD display gives an informative description of the various options and allows for the possibility of dynamic color fades and selectable scene changes.
The Alien's adjustable head can be easily rotated and tilted and performs equally well as a recessed ceiling fixture, or mounted in walls and floors. The Eyeball features a pan/tilt locking device that secures the designer's original aiming position even after service or lamp replacement. Slow, smooth fading or fast colour changes are possible, and colour and intensity can be controlled for various colour presets and even colour sequences. A 50-watt MR-16 Philips lamp is included with the fixture.
