The Scorpions Whitesnake 2003 tour is using High End Systems products to add punch and reliability to their rig. LD Lighting Director Charlie 'Cosmo' Wilson specified 12 High End Systems Studio Color 575 automated wash luminaires for the tour, supplied by contractor LSD/Fourth Phase Los Angeles.
Wilson relies on the Studio Colors for their roadworthiness, ruggedness and their ability to be supplied anywhere around the world, he says. The Studio Beam automated luminaire is another of his favorite lighting tools, he adds, and he's positioned two fixtures on the drummer to highlight him along with the beat. "Studio Beams are bright, punchy and fast," says Wilson. "Just what I needed on the drums."
Now on his seventh tour with the Scorpions and his first with Whitesnake, Wilson was easily able to design a truss to accommodate both artists while giving each a distinctive look at the same time. The bulk of the rig was outfitted with PARs and LSD's own brand of lighting and console.
Scorpions/Whitesnake's tour kicked off in January and continues in North America until March 22 2003. Soon thereafter, Wilson takes off with Whitesnake on their UK/Europe tour May 12-June 3.
